The JP Taravella High School Jazz Band is dreaming of competing in New York City next year, but first they need to raise the funds to get there.
Starting on Saturday, May 30, at 4:00 p.m. they will host the first of several fundraisers to help them fulfill their dream.
Band Booster President Lisa Zhen said that at their last competition, the judges turned off the recorders that they use to make notes, walked up to the front of the auditorium so they could just sit and listen, which she says is a testament to the quality of the jazz band.
“If you close your eyes you would believe you were listening to seasoned veterans, not high school students,” said Zhen.
Tickets for the event are $12 for the concert and $20 for the concert plus the dinner. The dinner starts at 4:00 p.m. with the concert to follow. Buy your tickets online now at Jazz Band Dinner Concert. All Tamarac and Coral Springs residents are invited to attend.
JP Taravella High School is located at 10600 Riverside Dr, Coral Springs, Florida 33071.
