Auto Theft and Battery This Week in Tamarac Crime

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime through March 22, 2021.

Aggravated Assault

5879 N University Dr – Lounge 58 Sports Bar and Grill

On March 17, the offender used a baseball bat to cause damage victim’s vehicle during a brawl outside a bar. The offender also gave chase in their vehicle and threw bottles at the victim’s car as they drove away.

Auto Theft

4500 block of NW 19th Ter – Tamarac Lakes 1

On March 16,  the caller stated a male attempted to steal her motorcycle by moving it from the front of the residence to the side of the residence and by installing a new battery. The incident was partially caught on video surveillance

5800 block of NW 57th Ct – The Osprey

On March 19, the caller advised her boyfriend took her vehicle without permission.

305 W Commercial Blvd – Lindstrom Brothers Air Conditioning Inc

On March 18, BSO contacted a male at the Pep Boys parking lot about theft by an unknown suspect.  Tot. Est. Loss: $3,000.

Battery

3914 W Commercial Blvd – Roadway

On March 16, a male Uber driver advised that he was scratched in the face by a passenger because she was upset that he continued to follow-up the Uber map and not her directions.

6191 Rock Island Rd – Moose Lodge

On March 16, following a verbal argument, Charles Mowry used open hands and forearms to aggressively shove the victim and continued the altercation by knocking the glasses off the victim’s face. Mowry was placed into custody and taken to BSO Main Jail.

9080 Lime Bay Blvd – Lime Bay

On March 17, the victims were battered by being punched in the eye by an unknown person. Injuries incurred are non-life-threatening.

5879 N University Dr. Lounge 58 Sports Bar and Grill

On March 17, the victim stated several girls jumped her in the Publix parking lot as she left an event at Lounge 58. The victim had her weave pulled off, was scratched on the back, and was pepper-spayed.

Burglary Conveyance

11000 W McNab Rd – Sunset Point Park

On March 19, the victim reported a burglary to her black Kia Sorento while she was with her children at the park. The vehicle was locked, and there was evidence of forced entry. The point of entry was through the driver’s door window. Suspect(s) stole various items, including a backpack, a wallet, and cash, among other things.  Tot.Est.Loss: $250.

Criminal Mischief

9800 block of NW 70th St – Westwood

On March 19, an unknown suspect set the victim’s fence on fire.

Found Property

8300 block of NW 57th Ct – Fairhaven 11

On March 18, the reporting person located a small bag containing cannabis bud in his backyard. The substance (1 oz) was submitted to BSO Evidence for destruction.

Fraud

5800 block of Mulberry Dr – Woodlands County Club

On March 17, the victim advised he was scammed via landline with an unknown male who stated he was a representative with PayPal tech support and could resolve his technical issue. The victim defrauded over $4,000 from Apple Pay and Zelle.

7001 W Commercial Blvd – TD Bank

Between May 28, 2019, and March 16, 2021, the victim had written a $4,071 check that was supposed to go to the IRS. It got lost and was cashed by an unknown person.

Missing Person

NW 76th Street

On March 18, the caller advised her 14-year-old son has been missing since March. The son was a runaway from his grandmother’s home.

Nw 78th Ter

On March 19, Known to frequent the areas of Margate, Coral Springs, and Pompano Beach

Theft

5751 Madison Ave – Woodspring Suites

On March 16, a stolen FL Tag occurred. The victim last saw the tag on the vehicle approximately two prior. Tot.Est.Loss: $90.

5421 N State Road 7

On March 16, the victim reported his decal tag sticker was removed from his vehicle 2016 white Nissan Rogue from the plaza parking lot.

9351 W Commercial Blvd – Tamarac Village

On March 17, a reported unknown suspect (s) removed the exterior side front passenger mirror from a2017 white Honda Civic for an approximate loss of $210.00.

3914 W Commercial Blvd – Walgreens

On March 18, the subject(s) entered the convenience store, grabbed the electronic devices off the shelf, and proceeded to walk past all points of sale. The subject description was obtained, but identification remains unknown. Tot. Est. Loss: $69.



Arrests

Jones, Jason Roshon (B M, 39) was arrested for Possession Of Weapon-or Ammo By Convicted Florida Felon at 4905 Umbrella Tree Ln, Tamarac, on 03/16/2021.

Mowry, Charles Michael (W M, 40) was arrested for Touch Or Strike/battery/dating Viol (M) charges at 6191 Rock Island Rd, Tamarac, on 03/16/2021.

Soza, Jeremy (W M, 38) was arrested for charges of Battery. Bond $500 at 3833 W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 03/18/2021.
