A woman was arrested after keying a vulgar word into the hood of a car belonging to a man who didn’t want to date her.

On March 29, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a car being vandalized near the 5900 block of 61st Avenue. When deputies arrived, they spoke to the victim, who told them a woman, later identified as Ashley Baker, 18, of Opa Locka, had keyed his car because he did not want to pursue a relationship with her.

According to the report, the victim told deputies after he explained to Baker in the parking lot he did not want to date her, she asked him to retrieve a wallet she had left inside his residence. When he emerged from his home with her wallet, the victim said he saw Baker keying his car.

The victim told deputies that by the time he was able to get downstairs, Baker had already fled the area on foot. When he assessed the damage to his vehicle, he saw the word “whore” keyed into the paint above the grill, as well as multiple key markings all over the rest of the car.

The estimated damage to the vehicle was later estimated to be $1,000.

The report said deputies combed the area searching for Baker but were unable to locate her. Later in the day, however, she returned to the residence, and deputies placed her under arrest.

Baker was transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where she was later released after posting a $100 bond.
