Detectives are asking for the public’s help in their search for a group of attempted car burglars and a vandal caught on video in North Lauderdale, authorities said.
Surveillance cameras were rolling in the Hamptons West community shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, as the group tried to open car doors, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. After finding the car doors of a Nissan Sentra locked, one of the culprits was caught on video carving the word “bitch” into the car’s hood, authorities said.
Detectives said the victim did not know the vandal, wearing a yellow shirt with black lettering and red pants. The incident appears to be random, authorities said.
On the same morning, according to BSO, several people believed to be with the vandal were seen on video trying to enter other cars on the property.
Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the people involved or regarding the crime is asked to call BSO North Lauderdale District Detective Lisa Sokol at 954-720-226 or to submit a tip through the SaferWatch app.
If tipsters wish to remain anonymous, they can contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters can also dial **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone in the United States.
