Incidents
Missing Person — Endangered
A man identified as Tron Mays left a hospital while under a Baker Act and made suicidal threats. A cellphone ping search yielded negative results, and he was entered into NCIC/FCIC as an endangered missing person.
Extortion / Blackmail
A woman threatened to falsely accuse a man of rape unless he paid her $100.
Missing Person
A habitual missing person was reported and later returned home the same day.
Baker Act
A woman stated she drank nail polish in a suicide attempt and was Baker Acted.
Lost Property
A man reported losing his wallet and passport.
Theft — All Other
A woman discovered approximately $400 missing from her work apron, but no proof of theft was available.
Domestic Disturbance — Non-Crime
Deputies were unable to determine if a crime occurred. All parties were uncooperative.
Shooting / Unlawful Discharge
Deputies responded after a man was caught firing a handgun in a residential neighborhood and taken into custody.
Aggravated Assault
A road-rage encounter escalated into an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by an unknown suspect.
Suspicious Incident
A caller alleged a restraining order violation involving stolen shampoo; deputies could not confirm any crime.
Fraud — All Other
A man reported being involved in a long-term scam in which he deposited cash and money orders and transferred funds via Bitcoin at the direction of unknown individuals.
Robbery
A man snatched a woman’s cell phone and pushed her in a store. The suspect was later located and arrested.
Information Report — Suspicious Activity
A call for a possible burglary in progress was determined to involve someone who had permission to be on the property.
Code Violation Check
Deputies responded to a liquor store where several couches were observed inside the lobby but found no signs of alcohol consumption.
Criminal Mischief — Over $1,000
An unknown suspect threw a coconut through the window of a Dollar Tree on Commercial Boulevard.
Fraud — Unauthorized Purchases
The City of Tamarac reported more than $8,400 in unauthorized charges on a city-issued business card.
Retail Theft
A suspect stole candy and honey buns from a 7-Eleven after being denied a refund.
In a separate incident, CVS opted not to prosecute a minor shoplifting case.
Fire
Fire Rescue responded to a residential fire on Buttonwood Circle.
Shooting / Unlawful Discharge
A resident shot at two neighbor dogs, claiming self-defense. One dog suffered a gunshot wound. Animal Control was notified.
Burglary Conveyance
A man left his truck unlocked overnight and discovered his firearm missing. The gun was entered into teletype.
Found Property
A wallet containing a Guatemala ID and $475 was turned into deputies for safekeeping.
Multiple Domestic Disturbances — Non-Crime
Deputies responded to several verbal-only disputes throughout the week, including:
– A grandmother and adult grandson
– A mother and son where the son made suicidal statements and was Baker Acted
– An ex-boyfriend arriving uninvited but leaving without incident
– A child refusing to go to school
– A couple in a verbal argument with no physical altercation
Arrests
Failure to Register Motor Vehicle
A 40-year-old man was arrested for failing to register a motor vehicle.
Firing Weapon in Public / Residential Area
A 41-year-old man was arrested after firing a gun in a residential neighborhood.
Robbery — Strong Arm
A 73-year-old man was arrested after snatching a woman’s phone and pushing her inside a store.
Possession of Cocaine
A 40-year-old woman was arrested for possessing cocaine.
Violation of Domestic Violence Injunction
A 43-year-old man was arrested for violating an injunction.
Sexual Performance by a Child
A 31-year-old man was arrested on felony charges.
Aggravated Battery on Person 65+
A 36-year-old man was arrested for battering a person 65 or older.
Warrant Arrest
A 38-year-old man was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.
Battery — Bodily Harm
A 30-year-old man was arrested for committing battery.
Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon (No Intent to Kill)
A 28-year-old woman was arrested for aggravated assault.
In a separate case, a 24-year-old woman was also arrested on the same charge.
Domestic Battery — Bodily Harm
A 38-year-old woman was arrested following a domestic incident.
DUI — 3rd Offense in 10 Years
A 60-year-old man was arrested in Lauderhill for DUI.
DUI — 1st Offense
A 37-year-old man was arrested for first-offense DUI.
Sale of Controlled Substance — Schedule I
A 34-year-old man was arrested for selling a Schedule I controlled substance.
