Make Our Schools Safe Plans Golf and Tennis Fundraisers in Tamarac and Parkland 6

{MOSS Golf Fundraiser 2025}

Make Our Schools Safe will host two fundraising tournaments this fall, bringing golfers and tennis players together to support school safety initiatives and student leadership programs nationwide.

Make Our Schools Safe, known as MOSS, is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to improving school safety and protecting students and teachers from school violence.

Lori and Ilan Alhadeff founded the organization after their 14-year-old daughter, Alyssa, was killed in the Feb. 14, 2018, mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

The sixth annual MOSS Golf Classic will take place Friday, Nov. 6 at Colony West Golf Club in Tamarac. The ninth annual Ladies Tennis Tournament is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 4 at the Parkland Tennis Center.

Proceeds from both events will support the nonprofit’s mission, including MOSS Clubs and investments in school safety. The fundraisers also honor Alyssa’s legacy by protecting students and empowering young leaders.

A limited number of foursomes remain available for the Golf Classic. Participants can assemble a team for a day of golf and friendly competition, followed by dinner and awards.

Those who do not golf can purchase dinner tickets to attend the post-tournament celebration.

The Ladies Tennis Tournament will introduce a “Dynamic Duo” theme this year, encouraging partners to dress as recognizable pairs. Suggested costumes include Batman and Robin, Mario and Luigi, Anna and Elsa, Monica and Rachel, and Thelma and Louise.

Players can compete while raising money for the organization’s school safety work.

Non-players can participate by purchasing a Lunch, Raffle & Shopping Ticket, which provides an opportunity to enjoy lunch, raffles, shopping and the tournament atmosphere.

Registration is available for both tournaments, along with tickets for guests attending the accompanying activities.
