Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac Welcomes Community for High Holidays

As the Jewish New Year approaches, the Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac is preparing to welcome local residents for a meaningful and uplifting High Holiday season, with services and programs open to the entire community, regardless of background or affiliation.

Rosh Hashanah begins Friday evening, Sept. 11. Holiday services will be held at 7 p.m., followed by a Community Rosh Hashanah Dinner at 7:45 p.m., featuring traditional holiday foods and an opportunity to celebrate the start of the new year together.

Morning services will continue Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13, at 9:45 a.m., with special children’s services and programming offered both days.

Because the first day of Rosh Hashanah falls on Shabbat this year, the shofar will be sounded on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 11:30 a.m.

“Rosh Hashanah gives us a chance to stop, reflect and think about what we want the coming year to look like,” said Rabbi Kopel Silberberg, director of the Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac. “You don’t have to know the prayers or be a regular synagogue-goer to participate. We want every Jew in our community to know there is a place for them here.”

Yom Kippur services will also be held at Chabad, beginning with Kol Nidrei on Sunday evening, Sept. 20, and continuing throughout the day Monday, Sept. 21. The schedule will include morning services, Yizkor memorial prayers, a children’s program, afternoon services and Neilah, the closing prayer of Yom Kippur, followed by a communal break-fast at the conclusion of the fast.

Services are designed to be welcoming and accessible, with explanations throughout the prayers and programming for children. Security will also be present throughout the High Holidays.

All synagogue services will take place at the Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac, 8100 N. University Drive. There is no charge to attend High Holiday services, and no membership or affiliation is required. Due to limited seating, advance reservations are requested.
