Crime Update: Victims Defrauded of $723,000 in Tamarac

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime and arrests through July 5, 2021.

Burglary

N. University Dr.

On July 1, a burglary of a building/structure was reported. Unknown suspects broke into a fenced enclosure overnight and broke into locked storage containers, stealing numerous power tools. Tot. Est. Loss: $3,890.

Burglary Conveyance

Westwood Dr.

On June 29, a person was the victim of a Burglary Conveyance. The victim was notified by his bank that his debit card had been used at a Coral Springs gas station. The victim went outside and observed that the passenger side window of his Honda Accord had been smashed out and his wallet stolen from the glove box.

Criminal Mischief

Lagos De Campo Blvd.

On July 1, victims discovered what appeared to be a bullet hole in their vehicles. Unknown caliber projectiles from an unknown firearm.

NW 78th Ave.

On July 2, a person was the victim of Criminal Mischief. A possible known suspect slashed 3 tires with a knife or similar object. The incident was not seen or captured on video.

Fraud

NW Paradise Ct.

On July 1, a person was the victim of Fraud-Impersonation. Tot. Est. Loss: $323,500.

McNab Rd.

On June 30, a victim reported Fraud-False Pretense. The victim wanted to document a fraudulent scam under false pretenses that occurred on 5/14/2021. Tot. Est. Loss: $2,000.

Grand Theft

Lakeside Dr.

On July 3, a female was the victim of Grand Theft. The victim advised that $5,000 in U.S. currency, a Cartier watch, and a Movado watch were stolen from a portable safe. The victim advised that she believed she knew the person who stole her money and watches. Tot. Est. Loss: $6,500.

W. Commercial Blvd.

On July 4, a person was the victim of Grand Theft. The victim unintentionally left a bag outside a hotel, and the bag was returned to the front desk with $8,000 missing/stolen. The investigation is ongoing. Tot. Est. Loss: $8,000.

Shooting

W, Commercial Blvd.

On July 4, a Shooting/Unlawful Discharge was reported. Police responded to the location about a shooting incident, unknown victim/suspect.

Wire Fraud

N. Pine Island Rd.

On July 1, a victim reported Fraud-Wire. Tot. Est. Loss: $400,000.

Arrests

Brave, Emilie Olivia, 23, was arrested on charges of Breach Of Peace/Disorderly Conduct/Disturbing the Peace, on N State Road 7, on 07/04/2021.

Lacasse, Brianna Lee, 36, was arrested on charges of Warrant-Driving Under the Influence in the 8000 block of Sands Point Blvd on 07/04/2021.

A person was arrested on charges of Larceny-Petit Theft From Merchant on W Commercial Blvd on 07/04/2021.
