Detectives are asking for the public’s help in tracking down four “toothbrush bandits” who stole more than $1,000 worth of electric toothbrushes from a Tamarac store, authorities said Friday.
According to Broward Sheriff’s Office Tamarac district detectives, deputies responded to a store near the 3900 block of West Commercial Boulevard in Tamarac on Dec. 16 after receiving a report of two people stealing several electric toothbrushes shortly before 6 p.m.
According to investigators, two similar incidents happened at the same store on Sept. 12 and Nov. 22. Detectives said the bandits’ modus operandi is always the same: two subjects walk into the business, proceed to the dental care area, grab several electric toothbrushes and quickly leave.
The ringleader brought along a different partner each time they shoplifted from the store, according to BSO.
Last month, Tamarac deputies dubbed the thieves the “Oral-B Bandits” and said they had stolen five Oral-B toothbrushes from the store within the span of two minutes on Dec. 16.
The toothbrushes were worth a total of $149, deputies said.
