More information has been released following the multi-vehicle crash that left one woman dead.

Tamarac Talk reported the crash occurred at the 7300 block of West McNab Road in Tamarac at approximately 1:24 p.m. on Monday.

The preliminary investigation revealed the adult female driver was traveling with a juvenile in a  2019 Hyundai Tucson SUV westbound on West McNab Road, turning left into the north entrance of the University Commons shopping mall.

At the same time, Frantz Laine, 19, of Pompano Beach, was driving a 2014 Lexus IS250 eastbound on West McNab Road. The two vehicles collided in the eastbound lanes of the roadway.

The Hyundai was struck with such force the engine became detached from the vehicle before it flipped over and came to a final rest on the driver’s side. The adult female was ejected when the car flipped over and was later pronounced deceased.

The Lexus was redirected off the roadway, where it struck a fire hydrant, several bushes, and a large plaza sign and rolled on top of an unoccupied parked 2016 Toyota Corolla before coming to a final rest in the parking lot at 7300 West McNab Road.

After being struck, a piece of debris from the large plaza sign pierced an unoccupied 2009 Audi A4 parked in the area.

Tamarac Fire Rescue responded to the scene. Paramedics transported the other five occupants to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for their injuries. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
