Detectives are searching for a shooter who killed a father and wounded his son in North Lauderdale Monday, authorities said.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit, an unidentified shooter killed Marlon Orlando Samuels, 44, and wounded his 20-year-old son, Mikyle Samuels, just after 7 p.m. Monday near the 900 block of Southwest 81st Avenue.
According to investigators, Marlon Samuels was involved in a verbal argument with a person in the area. At some point, the argument turned physical and the person shot the elder Samuels multiple times before turning the gun on his son and firing, detectives said.
The shooter fled the scene and was still at large Wednesday afternoon.
Marlon Samuels was pronounced dead at the scene. Mikyle Samuels was rushed to an area hospital for treatment. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, authorities said.
Detectives have not publicly released any additional information about the shootings.
