Two people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Coral Springs Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The accident, which involved a black SUV, a white pickup truck, and possibly one other vehicle, happened at the intersection of Sample Road and Coral Springs Drive around 10 a.m.
Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department first responders used the jaws of life – a hydraulic rescue tool – to extricate a person from one of the vehicles, according to Fire Department Deputy Chief Mike Moser.
The woman, who witnesses said was extricated from the black SUV, was rushed to Broward Health North in serious condition.
A second person was taken to Broward Health Coral Springs with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
The crash snarled traffic in the area and led police to close the eastbound and westbound lanes of Sample Road for several hours while they investigated.
Authorities did not say what caused the crash.
