A new banquet hall is planned for Tamarac.
During the August 26 meeting, the commission approved an order granting a special application for Duwbu Ballroom & Lounge located at 3104-3108 West Commercial Boulevard.
This will allow the space to be used as a hall for hire, or “banquet hall,” in the mixed-use corridor of a shopping plaza.
Mona Masse, owner of Duwbu Ballroom & Lounge, presented to the commission. She is leasing suites 3104 and 3108 in 2026 to begin operations. Suite 3108 is vacant, but from 2018 to 2019 it housed Nesma’s Furniture and Mattress. Suite 3104 is vacant and has had multiple tenants, including the Fundamental General Insurance Agency, according to city information.
The facility will occupy approximately 4,250 square feet of leased commercial space across the combined suites. It will include a commercial refrigerator, a sink, and a food preparation area. It will be a professionally managed venue with 4,500 square feet of space for large and small gatherings, as well as stage and head table areas.
During the presentation, the owner said the hall will offer an upscale dining atmosphere and seat up to 150 people, creating 10 to 15 jobs. It would host weddings, celebrations, and corporate events. It will offer a family-friendly, American-Haitian atmosphere. The goal is to be open by October 3, according to Masse.
