J.P. Taravella hosted a track and field meet on April 1 and dominated while holding Senior Night, while the flag football team also had a come-from-behind victory in overtime.
The boys’ team dominated the meet, taking first place in all but two events. Edwens Belizaire, Ja’Michael Barnes, Elijah Vessels, Akeem Beckford, and Craig Dennis all won races on the track. They also had all three relay teams place first, with Joshua Jones, Barnes, Akeil Kidd, and Belizaire racing in the 4 x 100.
Brandon Sanders, Benjamin Joeseph, Jaden Barclay, and Kevon McKinney won the 4 x 400, while Dennis, Vessells, Dominic Martinez, and Beckford won the 4 x 800 relay. Kidd and Joshua Reneau won in the hurdles, with Roshawn Johnson and Benjamin Joseph tying for first place in the high jump. Ty’Quez Jenkins won the long and triple jumps, taking first in the shot put, and Joryton Delien won the discus.

The girls team finished in second place and had wins from two relay teams. Imya Johnson, Rayelle Languedoc, Jada Thelwell, and Patricia Costa won the 4 x 100 relay, while Olivia Noel, Costa, Jada Thelwell, and Timya Johnson took first in the 4 x 100 relay.
Costa also won the 400 meters, while Johnson, Arn, and Raquel Arne each came in second place and won multiple events.
Rayelle Languedoc also finished third, where the 4 x 400 relay team, with Caileen Canales, Camila Castillo, Valentina Castillo, and Meital Pavolotzky, finished.
J.P. Taravella previously won the City Championship earlier this season and will continue racing this month, preparing for Districts, Regionals, and potentially the State Championship.
Their seniors recognized were Barnes, Beckford, Belizaire, Ian Buddle, Delien, Green, Brandon Jamieson, Jenkins, Joshua Jones, Kidd, Donald Lee, Dominic Martinez, Adrian Myton, and Vessels from the boys team, and Arne, Bain, Giovanna Lionelli, Aleah Marriott, Damari Sibbles, Samoa Telfort from the girls team.
The flag football team held its Senior Night before its final home game against Miramar High School. The Trojans won 12-6, tying the game with a touchdown in the fourth quarter and then winning in overtime. JPT recognized Jazmyn Dunn, Aniza Zahid, Shaina Saintcyr, WIllyana Jaques, Sadie Prince, and Danielle Duncason before improving to 4-6.
