Dear Neighbors,
Welcome to September – the month that marks the end of summer and the start of the last four months of the year! (Is time flying faster this year, or is it just me?! 😊)
To kick off a month of planning and preparation, the HOA Liaison Quarterly Meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 2nd from, 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the Tamarac Community Center (8601 W Commercial Blvd). During this meeting, you will have the chance to “Ask the Attorneys” anything from budgeting to building safety to new legislation, and everything in between. This session is for anyone living in or working with HOAs, condominiums and cooperative associations. Make sure to visit www.tamarac.me/ata to register.
Growing up, there were certain words that were said in a whisper. It’s time to say all words out loud — Cervical Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Hepatitis C – these are just some of them. Whispering them won’t make them go away. Getting screened to catch, diagnose and treat as early as possible will. Our bodies are beautiful and amazing. Let’s get checked on Thursday, September 3rd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tamarac Community Center (8601 W Commercial Blvd). Thank you to the University of Miami Health System for coming back to our City to provide these free cancer screenings and general health check-ups. Twenty-Five Years. That’s right, on Friday, September 11th, it will be 25 years since our country was attacked through New York City, Washington, DC, and Shanksville, PA. Please check social media and the newspapers to find out where commemoration programs are being held. At 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, September 10th, in the Cabaret Room, the Pop Life Club of KPIT will host a 9/11 Remembrance Gathering to remember the lives lost, honor the Heroes, and Unite in Freedom. It is free for Kings Point residents, with a nominal fee to be paid at the front desk for guests.
Budget time has arrived! The first Public Hearing/Adoption of Final Assessments and Tentative Millage Rate and Budget will be held on Monday, September 14th, and the second Public Hearing/Adoption of Final Millage Rate and Budget will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd. Both meetings start at 5:05 p.m. and will take place at City Hall Chambers (7525 NW 88th Avenue) and broadcast on the City’s website and on Facebook Live.
Ready to meet some of our BSO Team? The next Grab a Bite with BSO event will take place on Tuesday, September 15th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ferro Pizza and Restaurant (8146 N. University Drive). Stop in to enjoy one of Tamarac’s longest operating restaurants and get to know our neighborhood first responders and have any questions you may have about public safety answered.
Get your dancing shoes ready and mark your calendar for “un baile inolvidable” (an unforgettable dance) as we kick off our Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Friday, September 18th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Tamarac Village Amphitheater (9090 NW. 57 St.)! This free event will feature a night of music, culture, and delicious food that celebrates our City’s Hispanic community. More event details will be posted to the City’s social media so make sure to keep an eye out for that!
On Tuesday, September 22nd, join us starting at 10:00 a.m. for a Special Budget Workshop to discuss the potential changes in property taxes that could impact the City. The meeting will take place in room 105 of City Hall (7525 NW 88th Avenue).

Ha-Ha’s for the Tatas is now a not-for-profit entity, and tickets are on sale now for the 2026 comedy fundraiser! Join us for a great night of laughter, delicious food, and terrific company on Saturday, October 11th, during WoMen’s Breast Cancer Awareness month at The View at Colony West (6850 NW 88th Avenue). Back by popular demand is Flip Schultz as our MC and featured comedian with Derek Richards as our headliner!
Proceeds from this event will be distributed to Tamarac Employees Benevolent Fund, Gilda’s Club of South Florida, and the American Cancer Society.

SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION – NEWS and TRAFFIC ALERTS
Time to put some rumors to bed – Tamarac Elementary is not closing! Some of the extra building space is being utilized by the ESE (Exceptional Student Education) Department instead of renting building space elsewhere.
CAUTION – Tickets will be issued:
1) If passing a stopped school bus that is picking up or dropping of children. Broward County School Bus Safety Program in partnership with BusPatrol will be using AI-powered cameras to help detect drivers who illegally pass stopped school buses. As of September 9th, drivers who violate the Florida law will receive as $225.00 citation. To learn more, go to BrowardSchools.com/BusPatrol.
2) School-zone speed cameras coming to the City. There will be improved signage installed and a 90-day public education and warning period before tickets will be issued for people going over 10 miles an hour in school zones. Please check the City’s website and social media for more details, and always check your surroundings and speedometer for safety.

Is your neighborhood interested in upgrading your neighborhood signage, landscaping beautification including tree trimming or head replacement, or needed repair projects, enhanced lighting or small fitness structure or exercise stations? City of Tamarac’s Owner‑Occupied Minor Home Repair Program is also back! It provides financial assistance for essential home repairs, accessibility modifications, and fixes that address health, safety, or code concerns. Eligible residents can receive up to $85,000 in support, with income and residency requirements in place to ensure help reaches those who need it most. - If you or someone in your household has a disability, make additional support arrangements.
- Stock up on essential supplies: water, medications, flashlights, batteries, pet food, and other necessities.
- Sign up for emergency alerts (Subscribe to Tamarac’s Code Red Emergency Alert System at www.Tamarac.org/AlertCenter).
And remember, the weather remains extremely hot, and our cars are even hotter when sitting, turned off and parked. PLEASE do not leave your pets or people of any age in the car!
