McThief Has Change of Heart and Returns Child’s iPad

Surveillance shows the man from November 6, 2015

The man who stole the iPad from a boy dining at a Tamarac McDonald’s had a change of heart and retuned the device on Tuesday.

On November 6, Malachi Howard, 7, and his aunt, Kimberly Howard, were visiting the McDonald’s at 7600 N.W. 57 St. in Tamarac for breakfast. The restaurant’s security video captured Malachi when he placed his iPad on one of the tables near the playground and walked away.

After news broke on Monday, the man must have felt the heat and decided to return the device the next day.  On November 24, he returned to the scene of the crime and handed the stolen iPad over to a McDonald’s employee.

BSO says an investigation is still on-going.
