More Than 90,000 Vote-by-Mail Ballots Head to Broward Voters for August Primary

How to Request a Vote-by-Mail Ballot

Broward County voters who requested to vote by mail for the Aug. 18 Primary Election can expect their ballots to begin arriving soon.

The Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office will begin mailing more than 90,000 domestic Vote-by-Mail ballots on Monday, July 13, starting at 10 a.m., giving voters more than a month to complete and return their ballots before Election Day.

Voters are encouraged to sign up for ballot status notifications through BrowardVotes.gov, which allows them to track when their ballot is mailed, received and counted. The notification system also alerts voters if there is an issue with their ballot that may require attention.

“Voting by mail is a secure and convenient way to participate in the Primary Election,” Broward Supervisor of Elections Joe Scott said in a statement. “I encourage Broward County voters who requested a Vote-By-Mail ballot to track their ballot, sign the return envelope, and return it early so it is received by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.”

Vote-by-Mail ballots include prepaid return postage. Voters are recommended to mail completed ballots as early as possible to ensure they arrive by the 7 p.m. deadline on Tuesday, Aug. 18. Florida law requires ballots to be received by the Supervisor of Elections Office by that time to be counted.

Completed ballots may also be returned to secure ballot intake stations at Supervisor of Elections offices or designated early voting locations during the Early Voting period.

On Monday, Aug. 17, and Election Day, Aug. 18, completed Vote-by-Mail ballots will only be accepted at secure ballot intake stations located at Supervisor of Elections offices throughout Broward County.

Important deadlines for the Aug. 18 Primary Election include:

Monday, July 20: Deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation.
Thursday, Aug. 6, 5 p.m.: Last day to request a Vote-by-Mail ballot.
Aug. 8-16: Early voting from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Tuesday, Aug. 18: Election Day voting from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
