Steven Feldman is pleased with the new location for his business, Marty and Son’s Jewelry.
He is one of six businesses located at the New Jewelry Exchange in Tamarac. They moved to their new location at the University Commons Plaza at 6730 North University Drive because of changes in their previous building. Feldman learned about the jewelry business from his late father, Martin, and became the owner. He works with Stacia Day, who has many years of experience in the jewelry business. “I love the business, and I like the fact that I can be creative,” said Feldman.
His mother, Tinna Rubin, Martin’s former wife, is very proud of Steven. “His father taught him everything about the jewelry business, and now he is successful,” said Rubin.
The New Jewelry Exchange celebrated the grand opening of its new location with a ribbon-cutting on the morning of October 17. Members of the Tamarac commission and the Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce participated.
Most owners have many years of experience in the jewelry industry, and some are second-generation owners. Mayor Michelle J. Gomez said she loves jewelry and believes in the owners at the New Jewelry Exchange.
“I have some here for jewelry over the years, and I am glad to see the jewelers have put this exchange together. I encourage people to come here for their jewelry needs,” said Gomez.
Commissioner Dr. Kicia Daniel said the businesses were in a good location and encouraged people to visit them if they need to buy jewelry or have it repaired.
Joe Farsijani, owner of Pyramid Jewelry, said he loves working with jewelry and believes the new location will create opportunities for his business.
Jimmy Beckford, the owner of Jewelry Masters and Watch Repair and the leader of the jewelers who moved to the University Commons Plaza, said, “I believe we are in a better location and we will have more traffic here.”
The Jewelry Exchange is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
