Detectives are asking for the public’s help in catching a serial thief who has ripped off a North Lauderdale Walmart four times since March.
The unidentified man, seen in surveillance images and video made public by Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives Tuesday, used a stolen credit card to purchase gift cards in the store’s self-checkout lanes before walking out, according to BSO.
The incidents of grand theft happened on March 17, April 12, April 15, and May 24, authorities said. Each time, the man wore similar black clothing with a mask while committing his crimes.
Detectives said they believe the suspected thief charged more than $5,000 on the stolen credit cards used in the crimes. The investigation has revealed that the credit cards are being stolen from residential mailboxes, authorities said.
