Suspects Attempt to Use Counterfeit $100 Bills for Gift Cards in This Week’s Crime Update

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Burglary Apprehension Team (BAT) works to put the brakes on high-end auto theft.

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime and arrests through March 1, 2021.

Auto Theft

8060 block of Fairview Dr – Versailles Garden Condos

On February 5, BSO responded to an Auto theft of a 2018 black Honda Civic.

8100 block of NW 74th Ave – Sunflower

On February 28, An unknown male is seen on video surveillance stealing a 2017 black Jeep Grand Cherokee. The male is seen reprogramming a key fob with a laptop on video.

Battery

3873 W Commercial Blvd – Extended Stay

On February 23, an Arrest Affidavit charging a male is being submitted to the Broward State Attorney’s Office for review.

Burglary

3801 NW 49th St – Shoreline Air Systems Inc

On February 19, a subject(s) cut through a wire fence, entered the property, and stole two A/C condensers valued at $100 each

Burglary Conveyance

5600 block of NW 47th Ln – Mainlands 7

On February 26, an unlocked black Ford and Toyota were burglarized with damage to the driver’s front window.

Burglary Residence

5600 block of NW 49th Ter – Mainlands 7

On February 22, an unknown individual entered the listed address, a property for sale, and appeared to have been squatting inside.

4410 block of Treehouse Ln – Arbor Keys

On February 25, a report someone attempted to break into their residence via the front door.

Counterfeit

3116 W Commercial Blvd – Winn Dixie

On February 20,  A group of unknown males provided a Winn Dixie cashier with counterfeit $100 bills in an attempt to receive a money order and a gift card.

Criminal Mischief

3204 W. Commercial Blvd

On February 24, a male approached the victim, talking to him and leaning on his car. The victim told him not to lean on his car, and the male hit the hood of the victim’s car with a bottle causing a dent.

8300 block of Sands Point Blvd – Sands Point

On February 24, BSO met with the resident regarding exterior damage to her front door deadbolt lock.

Fire

8700 block of NW 57th Ln – Woodlands Villas

On February 24, a vehicle’s secondary battery and audio electrical system ignited the fire in the vehicle’s rear hatch area while parked in the garage of the residence.

Information

8100 block of NW 100th Dr – Spring Lake Villas

On February 23, a resident called because a neighbor left a letter on his door that he did not appreciate.

8900 block of NW 78th St – Lakeview Flats

On February 24, BSO responded out to document an anonymous complaint of a dog that was left unattended on the back porch.

6190 Woodlands Blvd – Condos

On February 24, the homeowner reported screen enclosure and lights removed from the patio area by construction workers repairing the exterior of the building.

7700 block of Yardley Dr – Kings Point

On January 24, the complainant advised unknown suspect requested a loan of $150,000 from the “US. Small Business Administration” (PPE Loan) under his company’s name.

Theft

3914 W Commercial Blvd – Walgreens

On February 24, an unknown male was captured on security surveillance cameras taking diapers from Walgreens.

5881 N University Dr – Publix

On February 24, a subject attempted to remove food from the business without paying for it and was confronted by an employee. The subject swung his fists and chased the employee back into the store. The subject failed to provide his information at the time of his arrest. The subject charged accordingly and was transported to the main jail.

5901 Madison Ave – Arrigo Chrysler Dodge Jeep

On February 24, an unknown person(s) stole the dealer tag and decal.

3915 W Commercial Blvd – CVS

On February 24, an unknown subject caught on security surveillance cameras removing products from CVS.

4161 W Commercial Blvd – Publix Liquors

On February 25, the suspect was arrested for petit theft and resisting without violence.

7700 block of NW 78th Ave – Midora at Woodmont

On February 26, an unknown person(s) lifted a 2018 Toyota Corolla, set it on a 4×4 piece of wood, and stole the right rear 16-inch rim. Tot. Est. Loss: $200.

6000 block of N Sabal Palm Blvd

On February 28,  an unknown suspect stole the victim’s license plate and decal from his vehicle.

3914 W Commercial Blvd – Walgreens

On February 28, a male subject entered Walgreens and stole $394.29 worth of body wash.

3800 W Commercial Blvd – La Quinta

On February 28, a female reported $400 was removed from her luggage.

Rodriguez, Frank (W M, 28) was arrested on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/dating Viol at 3873 W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 02/23/2021.

Battle, Darrel Anthony Ivan (B M, 20) was arrested on charges of Battery-on Officer Firefighter Emt Etc at 6150 NW 62nd St, Tamarac, on 02/23/2021.

Ricketts, David Archibald (B M, 28) was arrested on charges of Larc-petit Theft 2nd Degree 1st Offense at 5881 N University Dr, Tamarac, on 02/24/2021.

Rossi, Alfred Henry (W M, 37) was arrested on Dealing In Stolen Property charges at 8250 NW 67th Av, Tamarac, on 02/24/2021.

Joseph, Keenan Andrew (B M, 28) was arrested on charges of Damage Prop-crime Misch-over 200 Dols Under $1,000 at 3204 W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 02/24/2021.

Pierce, Carl E. (B M, 33) was arrested on charges of Larc-petit Theft 2nd Degree 1st Offense at 4161 W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 02/25/2021.

Vargas Mejia, Osman Alexander (W M, 26) was arrested on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/domestic Viol at 2267 NW 52nd Ct, Tamarac, on 02/28/2021.
