Tamarac Commissioner Krystal Patterson Leads Backpack Giveaway

Commissioner Krystal Patterson wants every child in Tamarac to be prepared for the first day of school.

“I want to help the children in my community. Providing them with backpacks and school supplies will benefit families,” said Patterson.

She worked to arrange a partnership with the Children’s Services Council of Broward County and Blue Chip Solutions to provide free backpacks to elementary and middle school children in District Three on June 27.

Families drove up and picked up backpacks with supplies geared for elementary or middle school children. Patterson handed out many of the backpacks and offered words of encouragement. She said that about 200 backpacks were distributed. Also, the children received $35 coupons for hair care from Legacy Tress, according to Patterson.

“This was a good event, and I look forward to the next backpack distribution event,” said Patterson.

The second backpack distribution event will be on July 18 at 9:00 a.m. at the Tamarac Sports Complex.
