Incidents
Information — On Sept. 16, an older woman was located and transported to her adult daycare facility.
Battery — On Sept. 16, a woman reported being battered by an unknown individual.
Fraud/Identity Theft — Between July 29 and Sept. 13, an unknown suspect used a victim’s personal information to file a fraudulent Medicare claim for orthotics through Humana.
Domestic Disturbance (non-crime) — On Sept. 16, two adult siblings argued over pepperoni slices.
Recovered Auto — On Sept. 16–17, a stolen vehicle was recovered by Tow Max from Pompano.
Domestic Battery — On Sept. 17, a man forcefully took his wife’s phone, injuring her hand. They have four children together. He was transported to jail.
Aggravated Battery — On Sept. 17, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance resulting in aggravated battery.
Domestic Disturbance (non-crime) — On Sept. 17, a man reported texts from his ex-girlfriend regarding child custody.
Theft/Shoplifting — On Sept. 17, an unknown male stole $500–$600 worth of items from Aldi’s supermarket at 7050 N. University Dr.
Theft/All Other — On Sept. 17, a victim reported a $10,000 theft.
Assist Other Agency — On Sept. 17, deputies assisted Margate Police in identifying a suspect in NTI Flyers.
Baker Act — On Sept. 17, a Baker Act report was filed; later that night, a juvenile expressing suicidal thoughts was taken to Fort Lauderdale Behavioral and DCF notified.
Assault — On Sept. 17–18, deputies responded to a domestic-related assault.
Drugs/Narcotics — On Sept. 18, deputies discovered 94.8 grams of marijuana and an AR pistol during a vehicle search. The defendant was arrested.
Abandoned Dog — On Sept. 18, an abandoned pitbull was reported at Gary B. Jones Dog Park, 8101 Southgate Blvd. Animal Control took custody.
Found Property — On Sept. 18, a man turned in items he found on a bus bench in front of the district office.
Baker Act — On Sept. 18, an individual experiencing a psychotic episode was taken to Fort Lauderdale Behavioral.
Battery — On Sept. 19, deputies documented a simple battery involving a female victim.
Domestic Disturbance (non-crime) — On Sept. 19, a couple at Fairfield Suites had a verbal dispute; nothing physical occurred.
Burglary/Residence — On Sept. 19, suspect Derrick Jackson attempted to enter a vacant home, resisted arrest violently, and was charged with multiple offenses including burglary and fraud.
Theft/From Building — Between Sept. 14–19, jewelry valued at $12,000 was stolen.
Lost Property — On Sept. 19, a woman reported losing her cellphone at 3800 W. Commercial Blvd.
Domestic Disturbance (non-crime) — On Sept. 19, a couple had a verbal argument.
Information — On Sept. 20, a woman surrendered her Taurus firearm for safekeeping.
Battery — On Sept. 20, deputies responded to two separate battery incidents, including one that led to arrest.
Domestic Disturbance (non-crime) — On Sept. 20, deputies responded to a verbal dispute between father and son.
Battery — On Sept. 20, two juvenile females were taken into custody for battery against their mother and sister.
Domestic Disturbance (non-crime) — On Sept. 21, deputies responded to two separate non-criminal domestic incidents.
Fraud/Scam — On Sept. 16, a man reported losing $7,500 in a Publishers Clearing House scam.
Fraud — On Sept. 17–18, another victim reported $5,000 lost in a fraud case. A separate victim reported fraudulent credit card charges.
Arrests
Sept. 17 — Celine Jah Duverseau, 21, arrested for misdemeanor battery causing bodily harm.
Sept. 17 — Zaid Abdel Rahman Alhajqasem, 57, arrested for domestic battery.
Sept. 18 — Tumaini Savon Whyte, 27, arrested for felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
Sept. 18 — Valencia Lashun McNair, 28, arrested for felony robbery by sudden snatching.
Sept. 19 — Esteban Arbelaez, 29, arrested for misdemeanor battery.
Sept. 19 — Derrick Latavis Jackson, 30, arrested for burglary, resisting with violence, and fraud-related charges.
Sept. 20 — Noucheca Cooper, 40, arrested for misdemeanor battery.
Sept. 20 — Tomas Alvarez, 21, arrested for DUI, first offense.
