Tamarac Crime Update: Commission Candidate Reports Harassment

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime and arrests through Oct. 31, 2022.

Auto Theft

Sabal Palm Blvd.

A 34-year-old female was the victim of Auto Theft on 10/28/2022. Unknown suspect(s) stole her 2018 black Honda Accord from her complex parking lot. 

Battery

Commercial Blvd.

A 38-year-old male was the victim of Battery on 10/27/2022. Drivers at W Commercial Blvd/FL Turnpike got into a fight.

Lakeside Dr.

A 25-year-old male was the victim of Battery on 10/27/2022. Deputy contacted the victim, who advised that as he was walking down the stairs, suspect Allison Cartagena threw a broomstick at him, causing a large laceration to his forehead. After investigating, the deputy determined that Allison intentionally struck the victim with a deadly weapon, likely causing a permanent scar. Allison was arrested and transported to Broward’s Main Jail.

Burglary Conveyance

State St.

On 10/26/2022, suspects were observed on surveillance camera attempting to remove catalytic converters from multiple utility work vans. Subjects were arrested and transported to Broward Main Jail.

Southgate Blvd.

A 57-year-old female was the victim of Burglary Conveyance on 10/30/2022 at Gary B. Jones Park for People and Pups after her black 2014 Honda CRV was broken into. The victim’s juvenile daughter’s purse, iPhone, $200, and debit card weres taken. Tot. Est. Loss: $920.

Laurel Ln.

A 38-year-old male was the victim of Burglary Conveyance on 10/28/2022. The victim left his car unlocked,d and his wallet containing his IDs, passports, and credit and debit cards were stolen.

Domestic Disturbance

 S. Colony Cir.

A Domestic Disturbance (non-crime) was reported on 10/26/2022. The subject claimed that her sister threatened to stab her. No knife was seen. The subject’s father advised that the subject was lying and that nothing happened between the sisters. The initial information was provided by Coconut Creek School Resource Officer.

W Commercial Blvd.

Alvarez, Alexandra N., 41, a candidate for the District 2 Commissioner seat in Tamarac, reported to BSO on 10/30/2022, stating she is being harassed. Additional details were not made public.

Arrests

Kovalak, Orianina, 36, was arrested on charges of Dui Alcohol Or Drugs 1st Offense on Commercial Blvd on 10/25/2022.

Ibarra, Estefi Michelle, 20, was arrested on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/domestic Viol on 76th Ct on 10/27/2022.

Cartagena, Allison Jacqueline, was arrested on charges of Agg Battery, Cause Bodily Harm/disability-domestic on Lakeside Dr on 10/28/2022.

Dugan, Donna Susan, 59, was arrested on charges of Agg Assault W/ Deadly Weapon- Domestic Viol on Nw 89th Ave on 10/30/2022.
