Tamarac Crime Update: Deputies Seek Seizure of Bentley After Drug Arrest

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime and arrests through September 13, 2021.

Burglary Conveyance

6001 Hiatus Rd.

On Sept. 5, a truck driver parked his rig behind Gemaire Distributors. When he returned on Sept. 7, he discovered the computer that runs the truck was taken from the engine compartment area. Tot. Est. Loss: $7,000.

Burglary Residence

NW 68th Ave.

On Sept. 10, investment property was reported burglarized. Reporting person advised that an unknown individual or group had access to the lockbox attached to the side of the residence—no forced entry.

Criminal Mischief

9901 NW 77th St.

On Sept. 7, graffiti was written on the women’s bathroom, and batteries were stolen from the bathroom soap dispensers at Tamarac Sports Complex.

State Rd. 7

On Sept. 10, a 24-year-old male was the victim of criminal mischief when an unknown person smashed his vehicle’s driver’s side window.

Drugs

Commercial Blvd.

On Sept. 7, a man was stopped pursuant to a traffic stop and taken into custody for driving with a suspended license and possessing 33 grams of cannabis. A black semi-automatic 9mm Remington Arms R51 was recovered and submitted into safekeeping. A confiscation form was initiated for his 2005 Bentley GT and submitted to BSO legal for processing.

Embezzlement

Pine Island Rd.

On Sept. 11, a 47-year-old male was the victim of embezzlement. Tot. Est. Loss: $18,000.

Fraud

McNab Rd.

On Sept. 9, a 48-year-old male was the victim of Fraud – Impersonation. Tot. Est. Loss: $575.

Information

NW 52nd Pl.

On Sept. 8, an adult female wanted to report that an unknown phone number sent her a picture of an erect penis.

Missing Person

NW 71st St.

On Sept. 7, a 90-year-old male was last seen dropping off his sister. History of being missing before. The phone pinged in northern Florida. Missing persons were notified and responded.

Theft

Commercial Blvd.

On Sept. 8, a report was made of a subject using an ATM to deposit fake checks. Once the checks were deposited, the money was available, and the subject transferred the money to other banks, then withdrew it. Tot. Est. Loss: $9,530.

Arrests

Mitchell, Mawangie C., 34, was arrested on charges of possessing 33 grams of cannabis on Commercial Blvd on Sept. 7.

Davis, Darnell Brian, 30, was arrested on charges of trespassing on N University Dr on Sept. 11.

Wilson, Devon Anthony, 35, was arrested on charges of touch or strike/battery/domestic Viol on Royal Way on Sept. 12.
