Tamarac Crime Update: 8 Telecom Batteries Stolen From Cell Phone Tower Worth $6K

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with the residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime events through September 11.

Burglary Conveyance

A victim of Burglary Conveyance at NW Paradise Place was reported on 09/05/2023. The total estimated loss was $3,550.

A victim of Burglary Conveyance on W Commercial Blvd was reported on 09/08/2023. The total estimated loss was $1,040.

Threat Assessment

A Threat Assessment Report on NW 94 Avenue was reported on 09/05/2023. A student was searching “How to kill someone in real life.”

Theft

A victim of Theft – All Other on NW 49 Street was reported on 09/05/2023. The total estimated loss was $20,000.

A victim of Theft – All Other on NW 59 Avenue was reported on 09/05/2023. The total estimated loss was $1,437.

A victim of Theft – All Other on N University Drive was reported on 09/06/2023. The total estimated loss was $4,500. An employee reported that from 8/23/2023 to 9/5/2023, the copper wires from the block of N. University Drive to W. Commercial Blvd was stolen.

A victim of Theft-All Other on N State Road 7 was reported on 09/06/2023. The total estimated loss was $800.

A victim of Theft – All Other on NW 78 Street was reported on 09/07/2023. The total estimated loss was $460.

A victim of Theft -All Other on Rock Island Road was reported on 09/08/2023. The total estimated loss was $6,400. The complainant advised an unknown subject removed 8 Enesys PowerSafe Terminal Telecom Batteries from the cell phone tower power box. Each battery is valued at approximately $800.

A victim of Theft – Motor Vehicle Parts on NW 61 Avenue was reported on 09/11/2023. The total estimated loss was $1,000. The victim is reporting his vehicle’s rims and tires were removed overnight.

Auto Theft

A victim of Auto Theft on W Commercial Blvd was reported on 09/07/2023. The total estimated loss was $14,000.

A victim of Auto Theft on Azalea Court was reported on 09/08/2023. The victim reported the theft of his 2022 Blue Honda Accord.

A victim of Auto Theft on W Commercial Blvd was reported on 09/09/2023. A 2017 grey Dodge Charger SRT was stolen.

A victim of Auto Theft on W Commercial Blvd was reported on 09/08/2023.

Fraud

A victim of Fraud – Worthless Check on W Commercial Blvd was reported on 09/06/2023. The total estimated loss was $22,693.

A victim of Fraud – All Other on W Commercial Blvd was reported on 09/05/2023. The total estimated loss was $20,797. The victim advised that the money was transferred from his Truist savings account without permission.

A victim of Fraud – All Other on NW 59 Street was reported on 09/11/2023. The total estimated loss was $1,300.

Robbery By Sudden Snatching

A victim of Robbery By Sudden Snatching at 57 Street was reported on 09/05/2023. The total estimated loss was $800. The victim advised a white sedan pulled up next to her in the parking lot, and an unknown male snatched her phone.

A victim of Robbery By Sudden Snatching on W Commercial Blvd was reported on 09/09/2023. The total estimated loss was $2,700. An unknown person stole two phones out of the victim’s back pocket.

Fire

A victim of Fire on N University Drive was reported on 09/09/2023.

Arrests

Garcia Martinez, Luis, Angel, 30, was arrested on a Touch Or Strike/Battery/Domestic Violence charge on NW 50 Terrace on 09/06/2023.

Moseley, Leland, 58, was arrested on a Larceny Petit Theft 2 Degree 3 Subsq Offense charge at W Commercial Blvd on 09/07/2023.

Arias, Andres, 32, was arrested on a Battery-Commit Domestic Battery By Strangulation charge at NW 61 Street on 09/08/2023.
