Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with the residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime events through January 29, 2024.
Fraud
A victim of Fraud – All Other on 01/26/2024. The total estimated loss was $768,000.
A victim of Fraud – All Other on 01/26/2024. The total estimated loss was $25,000. The victim reported fraudulent withdrawals from his checking account.
Theft
Publix was a victim of Theft – Retail / Shoplifting on 01/23/2024. The total estimated loss was $321. An unknown subject stole detergent and bleach from the store.
A victim of Theft – All Other on 01/23/2024. The total estimated loss was $25,975. The victim reported unknown subjects had stolen money from his business account for over a year.
A victim of Theft – Motor Vehicle Parts on 01/29/2024. The total estimated loss was $2,000.
A victim of Theft – All Other on 01/26/2024. The total estimated loss was $800. The victim reported a stolen iPhone.
McNab Food Store was a victim of Theft – All Other on 01/25/2024. The total estimated loss was $721.
Family Dollar was a victim of Theft – Retail / Shoplifting on 01/25/2024. The total estimated loss was $164. A male selected, concealed in a Walmart bag, merchandise, passed all points of sale without intent to pay.
A victim of Auto Theft on 01/24/2024. The suspect deprived the victim of his vehicle while paying for fuel.
A victim of Auto Theft on 01/25/2024. A resident’s vehicle was stolen from the apartment complex.
A victim of Auto Theft on 01/26/2024. A male reported that his 2017 Nissan Altima was stolen. The total estimated loss was $13,000.
Death
A victim of a Death Investigation on W Commercial Blvd on 01/24/2024. A male was found deceased in a hotel room.
A victim of Death Investigation on 01/27/2024. The parents reported their son to be unconscious and not breathing.
Burglary
Mak Landscaping Services Inc. was a victim of Burglary Conveyance on 01/25/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,200. An unknown suspect in a Maroon Nissan Rogue stole two weed eaters and an edger out of a landscaping trailer.
Battery
A victim of Battery on 01/27/2024. An adult female responded to Extended Stay to serve the subject a restraining order; before police arrived, the suspect saw the victim and deployed pepper spray on her and the hotel manager.
Arrests
Thornton, Terronce A., 19, was arrested on a Vehicle Theft-Grand Theft Of Motor Vehicle charge on 01/24/2024.
German, Eddie L., 24, was arrested on a Vehicle Theft-Grand Theft Of Motor Vehicle charge on 01/24/2024.
Mejia, Victor, 32, was arrested on a charge of Touch Or Strike/Battery/Domestic Violence on 01/27/2024.
Hill, Cheron, Nakeith, 23, was arrested on a charge of Loitering Or Prowling on 01/26/2024.
