Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with the residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime events through March 25, 2024.
Theft
Winn Dixie was the victim of Theft—retail / Shoplifting—reported on 03/19/2024. The total estimated loss was $64. The subject entered Winn Dixie, grabbed two 18-packs of beer, and then proceeded to exit the store, passing all points of sale.
A victim of Theft – Motor Vehicle Parts was reported on 03/21/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,000. The victim reported that two wheels from his 2021 Toyota Corolla were stolen overnight.
Information
A victim of Information was reported on 03/19/2024. The complainant advised that someone had opened a credit card using his name.
Fire
A victim of Fire was reported on 03/19/2024—an unknown cause of a vehicle fire. The owner was on scene, and there were no signs of foul play.
Suspicious Incident
A Suspicious Incident was reported on 03/20/2024. The resident stated she asked a female standing on her property to leave. The female responded by saying she was from the FBI and would return.
Burglary
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 03/22/2024. The total estimated loss was $500. While the victim was inside a restaurant, her vehicle window was smashed, and a suitcase was taken from her car.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 03/23/2024. The total estimated loss was $650. The reporting person said an unknown suspect unlawfully removed the victim’s White 2024 Mercedes. The reporting person shut down the engine, and the vehicle was located in Fort Lauderdale, where the Fort Lauderdale Police Department recovered it. In addition, the same suspect unlawfully entered the victim’s second vehicle and removed an Apple iPad and a headset worth $650.
Assault
A victim of Aggravated Assault (Throwing a Deadly Missile) was reported on 03/23/2024. The victim advised that an unknown person threw a brick through the front bedroom window while the residence was occupied.
Animal Bite
A victim of an Animal Bite was reported on 03/24/2024. The owner of a Chihuahua dog stated that a bigger dog had attacked his dog.
Arrests
Williams, Jamal Leroy, 24, was arrested on a charge of Possession Of a Weapon or Ammo By a Convicted Florida Felon at 5000 N State Road 7 on 03/20/2024.
Lawrence, Quentin Charles, 50, was arrested on a charge of Possession Of a Weapon or Ammo By a Convicted Florida Felon at 5100 W Commercial Blvd on 03/21/2024.
Omary, Nadia M., 31, was arrested on a charge of Touch Or Strike/Battery/Domestic Violence on 03/21/2024.
Betty, Paul A., 48, was arrested on a Larceny – Petit Theft 2 Degree 3 Subsequent Offense charge on 03/22/2024.
Johnson, Tameira M., 35, was arrested on a charge of Battery – Cause Bodily Harm –Domestic Violence on 03/24/2024.
Betty, Paul A., 48, was arrested on 03/22/2024 on a charge of Larceny-Petit Theft 2 Degree 3 Subsequent Offense.
