Jean Bernard Similien {BSO}
A man allegedly punched an employee and threatened a group with a knife at InTown Suites in Tamarac, according to BSO.
According to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Jean Bernard Similien, 29, of Sunrise, was arrested October 23 on charges of battery, improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon, and resisting arrest following the confrontation at InTown Suites, 8191 West Commercial Boulevard.
Records show a deputy responding to a reported fight saw Similien pointing a knife at several people in the hotel’s parking lot. The deputy estimated six to seven people were nearby and activated his patrol vehicle’s lights and siren to draw Similien’s attention.
The deputy then held Similien at gunpoint and ordered him to get on the ground. According to the report, Similien ignored the commands and attempted to flee. A second deputy arrived and helped take him into custody, and deputies recovered a knife during a search.
During the investigation, a maintenance employee told deputies the confrontation began when Similien argued with him about staying on the property. The employee said he repeatedly told Similien to leave, but Similien continued following him.
According to the employee, Similien then punched him in the face and pulled a knife on multiple people, all of which was captured on camera.
Officers arrested Similien and transported him to the Broward County Main Jail.
