
Merit Mullings {BSO}
A 77-year-old Tamarac man was found dead in a body of water Sunday, two days after he was last seen alive, authorities said.
Merit Mullings was found by police around 11:23 a.m. Sunday in a body of water near the 3200 block of Northeast 58th Street in Fort Lauderdale, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Missing Persons Unit.
Mullings was pronounced dead at the scene. Fort Lauderdale Police detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, authorities said.
A missing person alert was issued for Mullings on Saturday. According to BSO, he was last seen around 7 p.m. Friday in the 8000 block of Fairview Drive in Tamarac.
When Mullings previously went missing in December 2021, his family said he had been showing signs of suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
