Tamarac Fire Rescue {Aiden Palmer}
A 23-year-old Tamarac woman was struck and killed by an SUV in the city Monday, authorities said.
Katherine Campbell had just exited a Broward County Transit bus. She was jogging north across West McNab Road near University Driven when she crossed in front of a 2010 GMC Arcadia shortly before 3:30 p.m., according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The GMC, driven by Jennifer Grote, 41, was traveling eastbound in the 6900 block of West McNab Road when its front passenger side struck Campbell, detectives said.
Tamarac Fire Rescue rushed Campbell to Broward Health Medical Center, where doctors pronounced her dead.
Detectives said Campbell was struck outside of a designated pedestrian crosswalk and that Grote, of Fort Lauderdale, had a green light.
Neither excessive speed nor driver impairment are considered contributing factors to the cause of the crash, detectives aid.
The investigation is ongoing, according to BSO.
