University Hospital and Medical Center in Tamarac is no longer allowing patient visits due to COVID-19, administrators announced Friday.
Located at 7201 North University Dr., the hospital has also ceased emergency room patient visits and visits to COVID patients and those suspected of being infected.
The visitor policies will remain in effect “until further notice, with limited specific exceptions,” Bonnie Strouse Sobrino, Director of Communications and Community Engagement for the hospital, said in a press release.
“To protect the health and well-being of our patients, staff, and physicians; HCA Broward Market Hospitals have implemented visitor restrictions and enhanced safety measures that enable us to continue our life-saving efforts in the fight against COVID-19,” Sobrino said.
All people going to the hospital must adhere to masking and social distancing policies inside the facility.
“Similar to other hospitals in the area, we are seeing an increase in COVID-19 patient hospitalizations, with the vast majority of patients not vaccinated,” said Sobrino. “We highly encourage everyone in our community to get vaccinated as it is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from the virus.”
