A woman wanted in connection with a 2018 robbery that left a man dead inside his Lauderhill vacation condominium has been taken into custody and charged with premeditated murder.
Broward County court records show Ingrid Tatiana Nunez Vargas, 37, was among seven defendants named in a Broward County grand jury indictment charging first-degree felony murder with a firearm, armed robbery, armed burglary, and conspiracy to commit robbery in the February 11, 2018, killing of Emerald Sr., formerly known as Martin Young.
Records show Young, 44, lived in Virginia and maintained a vacation apartment at The Manors at Inverrary.
Police said Young met three women in downtown Fort Lauderdale before the killing. Surveillance footage showed him walking with the women around 4:00 a.m., followed by footage of them inside his building’s elevator around 6:20 a.m., according to the station’s report.
Soon after, one of the women left the apartment and let two men into the building, police said. A confrontation followed inside the condominium, where Young was fatally shot. Surveillance cameras then captured suspects running down a stairwell.
Investigators said they believed the group intended to rob Young and were investigating whether the suspects had committed similar crimes.
The indictment, returned August 2, 2018, alleges Nunez Vargas and six others participated in the robbery, burglary, and killing. The indictment does not describe Nunez Vargas’ individual actions or identify her as the person who fired the weapon.
Authorities arrested three of the seven suspects in California months after the crime.
Nunez Vargas was transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where she remains without bond.
