Woman Scammed out of $200K on Dating Site in Tamarac Crime Updates

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime and arrests through April 12, 2021.

Aggravated Assault

5800 block of NW 57th Ct – Woodland Meadows

On April 11, Following a verbal altercation, Maurice Dixon retrieved a Glock 19 replica BB gun, pointed it at the victim, and made threats to shoot the victim and his residence. 

Animal Bite

4900 block of Nw 54th St – Mainlands of Tamarac

On April 6, a 70-year-old female was the victim of an animal bite.

Arrestable Traffic Violation

6200 N Pine Island Rd

On April 8, a traffic stop was initiated at the above location about no tag light and an expired registration. Teletype revealed that the defendant had a suspended license and was convicted three times of driving with a suspended license. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to BSO mail jail. 

Auto Theft

7100 block of Woodmont Way – Woodmont

On April 12, a blue Honda CRV was reported stolen between 4:00 pm – April 11 and 9:30 am April 12. 

Battery

3915 W Commercial Blvd – CVS

On April 7, a battery occurred where the female subject became upset that the store manager was attempting to remove her from the store. The female grabbed a bag of chips and hit the store manager in the head multiple times. The female was taken into custody for battery.

Burglary Conveyance

4121 W Commercial Blvd – Publix

On April 7,  BSO responded to the victim’s workplace to take a delayed Burglary Conveyance report. The victim advised her work laptop was taken from inside the vehicle. Tot. Est. Loss: $2,834. 

6800 block of  NW 77th St – Forsythe Colony

On April 6, the victim’s white Honda Ridgeline was burglarized, and an iPhone 7 Plus valued at $1,200 was taken from the vehicle by an unknown suspect(s). 

7900 block of NW 82nd Ct – Woodmont

On April 12, an unknown male was seen on several surveillance cameras burglarizing vehicles. One of which a firearm was taken. Scene processed  Tot.Est.Loss: $290. 

6191 Rock Island Rd – Moose Lodge

Between April 10 and April 12, an unknown suspect(s) gained entry into the victim’s vehicle by smashing the window. Crime scene processed. Tot. Est. Loss: $60. 

Yardley Apartments

Between April 5 and April 10, unknown subject(s) made entry to the apartment by the open back patio sliding glass door. No witnesses available, and video surveillance only captured the front of the building parking lot area. The scene was photographed and processed. Items taken were jewelry totaling $10,750.00. 

Criminal Mischief

7750 NW 78th Ave  – Midora at Woodmont

On April 6, allegations of criminal mischief of electronics by a former roommate. 

Domestic Disturbance

7800 block of Exeter Blvd E – Kings Point

On April 8, the caller said her husband/boyfriend becomes nasty and verbally abusive. She decided to leave and go to a friend’s house for the night. It was not physical. 

Fraud

Unknown address

Between March 19 and April 12, a 70-year-old female was defrauded out of over $200,000 worth of money via an unknown individual that she met on the dating website, Match.com. 

Information

4900 block of E Sabal Palm Blvd – Lakes of Carriage Hills

On March 23, reported April 6, the complainant hired someone to renovate her bathroom, and work was never done. 

6500 block of NW 72nd Ave – Vanguard Village

On April 8, the victim wanted to document that her ex-boyfriend is stalking her by driving by her residence multiple times. 

6500 block of NW 72nd Ave – Vanguard Village

On April 9, the reporting person stated that an unnamed person pointed a firearm at him while walking down the street. 

7201 N University Dr

On April 10, a male was looking for Tamarac Station to turn in an S-0 revolver for safekeeping and got lost and ended up at University Hospital and located a police officer. The Male stated he got into a fight with his wife and wanted to turn in the gun. A welfare check was done on the wife, who was fine and had no idea the husband was gone.

Suspicious Incident

7744 N University Dr,

On April 12, a female alleged someone sprayed her in the face with an unknown substance. The Female has a history of mental illness, and there is no evidence of a substance being sprayed on her. 

Theft

5700 block of Rock Island Rd – Sun Vista

On April 5,  the victim’s license plate was removed from her vehicle. 

8301 Sands Point Blvd – Sands Point Condo

On April 6, the resident reported a Delayed theft of hubcaps. Tot.Est.Loss: $27.

 Theft/Criminal Mischief

8301 W Commercial Blvd – Comfort Suites

On April 9, a female rented a room with a credit card that was declined when used. The Female left the hotel room a mess and broke a door handle to the bathroom. Tot. Est. Loss: $249.

Trespassing

8601 W Commercial Blvd – Tamarac Community Center

On April 8, Contact was made with the suspect trespassed from the property by a City of Tamarac Employee in my presence. The offender was arrested for trespassing on the above premises and TOT to BSO Main Jail without incident.

Degeorge, Jennie Irene (W F, 35) was arrested on charges of Grand Theft In The 3rd Degree $1,000 Bond at 8191 W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 04/08/2021. 

St Hill, Dexter Osmond (B M, 36) was arrested on charges of Drive While Lic Susp 3rd Or Subsq Off at 6200 N Pine Island Rd, Tamarac, on 04/08/2021. 

Adams, Chloe (B F, 19) was arrested on charges of Larceny-Grand Theft $700 Less Than $5k at 5813 N University Dr, Tamarac, on 04/09/2021. 

Thomas, Tafari Akine (B M, 21) was arrested on charges of Drive While Lic Susp 2nd Offense at 4500 W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 04/09/2021. 

Dixon, Maurice (B M, 22) was arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault – Weapon-w Deadly Weapon Without Intent To Kill at 5841 Nw 57th Ct, Tamarac, on 04/11/2021.
