FBI Searching for Man Who Robbed Tamarac Bank

Update: This report initially was released and said that the bank robbery occurred in Lauderhill.  Based on the address, the bank shows it it is is in Lauderhill but it is actually located in Tamarac on the Northeast corner of Commercial and University.  Tamarac Talk regrets this error.

A bank robber dressed in a reflective vest and hard hat took off with an undisclosed amount of money from the BB&T Bank in Tamarac on Tuesday. With an outfit complete with hard hat and gloves, the robber looked like he was fresh off a construction site or even a lawn crew.

Surveillance photos show him at the counter demanding cash from the teller. FBI agents said that customers were in the bank located at 5600 N. University Drive at the time of the robbery.

If anyone has information as to the identity of this robber, they are urged to call the FBI at (305) 944-9101.

FYI …. the bank is in Tamarac

    • Sorry George, anything South of Commercial in that area is Lauderhill. I also verified that address and it is Lauderhill.

Sorry Sharon, George is right. BB&T is on the NE corner of Commercial and University and is in Tamarac, not south of Commercial. BB&T lists it on their web site at Branch – Tamarac, but then strangely does say Lauderhill at a location that is where the Checkers is. Don’t know why but maybe they are trying to market themselves to Lauderhill since the have a branch in Tamarac about 2 miles north. It is the old Bank Atlantic Bank. FBI is being corrected on it. I know the branch very well, personally.

Of course if they insist on Lauderhill, I should send the a Business License application.

If you can find a BB&T Bank on University in Lauderhill, please let me know where. But if you drive over there you will see it for yourself.

    • My apologies to both of you. Both me, Google, the FBI were all wrong on this! Yes, there is something wrong with the location of that bank of the map for sure.

OK, but here is the good news. Everyone now thinks that there was a bank robbery in your city Mayor Kaplan…..not in ours.

      Have a great day!

It happens. A couple of weeks a they wrote about a killing in my city that was in Lauderdale Lakes. They sort of finally fixed that, but the link to Lauderhill is still there. In this case they won’t fix it until the FBI confirms it. They haven’t yet. Just another challenge.

The robbery netted the ‘guy’ $2,500. and he is now looking
at 10 years up the river. Why? Why? At
the same time, I think and am concerned about the trauma to the BB&T
