Businesses located in Tamarac, North Lauderdale, and Lauderhill were reported for not following precautions put in place by the Center for Disease Control in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.
As of July 30, the county has received 176 complaints about businesses since early March. Of the complaints received, a total of 66 have resulted in warning citations issued.
Complaints filed with the county are considered “pending” until a review is conducted. After a complaint is investigated, it is either labeled “resolved,” or a warning citation is given to the business.
The businesses received citations for violations ranging from employees or customers observed not wearing face coverings to those not taking required measures that would allow proper social distancing.
In Tamarac, three warning citations have been issued in the last week.
Moose Lodge, located at 6191 Rock Island Road, received a warning citation on July 27 after a complaint regarding large gatherings at the bar was filed.
The complaint mentions the lodge, a bar, should be closed at the moment, but loud music can be heard, and crowds can be seen gathering outside the establishment. It also claims the Moose Lodge has already had regulars who have already contracted the virus, and even one that has passed away. There is no indication any of the patrons contracted the virus at Moose Lodge.
Planet Fitness, located at 7501 NW 57th st, and the Black Belt Center, located at 10034 West McNab Road, were both slapped with warning citations for violations about customers not wearing face masks.
In Lauderhill, three warning citations have been issued in the past week.
Tijuana Flats, located at 7942 West Commercial Boulevard, was issued a warning citation on July 28 after a complaint claimed the restaurant had more than 47 customers inside the restaurant at the same time.
The warning citation lists the cause as social distancing precautions were not being followed.
Las Vistas at Inverrary, at 3533 Inverrary Drive, received a warning citation on July 28 after a complaint was levied against the building for reopening swimming pools with no guidelines.
The warning citation also indicates no staff was assigned to the pool area, and thus, no social distancing was occurring, no masks were worn when not swimming, and no equipment or chairs were being wiped down.
Hebrew Academy, located at 1500 North State Road 7, received a warning citation on July 22.
Filed within the complaint were accusations that the school was not ensuring students were practicing social distancing, and very few masks were being worn.
North Lauderdale has received 30 complaints over the past week, but of the 30, 26 have been marked as “resolved,” and four are slotted as “pending review.”
Since March, North Lauderdale has only issued six total warning citations, while 67 of their 77 complaints have resulted in “resolved,” outcomes.
