J.P. Taravella recognized four students on March 11 at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs Hotel & Convention Center for their leadership skills.
Jordan Kenneth Chang, Sandy Le Pham, Jayla Rochelle Smith, and Jordan Weintraub were all named finalists.
Chang holds positions in four different clubs around the school, including Key Club, HOSA Future, Health Professionals, and National Honor Society. He has a 3.84 GPA and has applied to Columbia and New York University.
Le Pham is the secretary of the HOSA Future Health Professionals, the Save What’s Left Club secretary, and the president of Mu Alpha Theta. With a 3.98 GPA and 265 service learning hours, she has applied to the University of Florida and Central Florida and plans to major in chemistry.
Smith is the National Honor Society Vice President, Make Our Schools Safe, Key Club Fundraiser Coordinator, and Interact Club Treasurer. She was also named Rookie of the Year on the lacrosse team and has already been accepted to the University of Florida and Howard University with a 3.8 GPA.
Weintraub, the President of Children Helping Other Children, has a 3.98 GPA and 334 service hours. She was also a two-time varsity swim team captain while expanding the Special Olympics at J.P. Taravella.
