Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with the residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime events through July 1, 2024.
Theft
Marathon was the victim of Theft—All Other at 8291 N University Drive, which was reported on 06/26/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,000. Over a two-week period, an employee stole $990 worth of scratch-off tickets, possibly totaling $20,000.
A victim of Theft—All Other was reported on 06/27/2024. The total estimated loss was $2,100. The victim noticed unauthorized transactions on his debit card in the city of Tamarac.
Bellas At The Gate was the victim of Theft—All Other at 5320 Gate Lake Road, which was reported on 06/25/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,200. The reporter wanted to report a stolen pool pump.
Walgreens was the victim of Theft—retail / Shoplifting at 8790 W McNab Road, which was reported on 06/27/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,090.
Winn Dixie was the victim of Theft—retail / Shoplifting at 3116 W Commercial Blvd, which was reported on 06/25/2024. A known female subject was observed concealing items and trespassing at the business. After the subject was confronted, she took flight and was injured in the process. BSO Tamarac Fire Rescue transported the female subject to Broward General Hospital for her injuries, where she was admitted.
A victim of Auto Theft was reported on 06/26/2024.
A victim of Auto Theft was reported on 06/27/2024. A white 2017 Nissan Maxima was stolen.
Burglary
A victim of Burglary Residence was reported on 06/25/2024. The total estimated loss was $130,000. The rear sliding glass window was shattered to gain entry to the unoccupied residence. Approximately $100,000 worth of jewelry and $30,000 in cash were stolen.
Fraud
American Youth Football League Cheerleading was the victim of Fraud—All Other at 7879 W Commercial Blvd, which was reported on 06/28/2024. The total estimated loss was $19,000. A known subject used a company debit card to make unaccounted cash withdrawals.
A victim of Fraud – Worthless Check on 83rd Terrace was reported on 06/26/2024. The total estimated loss was $2,500.
A victim of Fraud – All Other was reported on 06/27/2024. The total estimated loss was $2,400. The victim reported being deceived by an individual whom she believed was collecting a deposit to rent a house.
A victim of Fraud—Credit Card/ATM —was reported on 06/26/2024. The total estimated loss was $2,000. The complainant advised of unauthorized withdrawals from her bank account.
Fire
A victim of Fire on NW 55 Street was reported on 06/27/2024. A residential fire was reported.
Arrests
Mcilvain, Matthew John, 36, was arrested on 06/27/2024 on a charge of Larceny—Grand Theft.
Pessoa, Winston Anthony, 61, was arrested on a charge of Dui Alcohol Or Drugs 2 Offense on 06/30/2024.

Freya Charissa, 34, was arrested on 06/25/2024 on a charge of Larceny—Petit Theft 2 Degree 1 Offense.
