Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through March 22.
All Other Arrestable Offenses
8191 W Commercial Blvd – Inn Town Suites
On March 18, an unknown subject pulled the fire alarm located on the east side first floor of the building.
Animal Bite
Nob Hill Road / Southgate Blvd – Near Tephford Park
On March 19, the victim advised an unknown dog (German Shepherd) jumped at her on her back and bit her. The victim advised the dog handler left the scene, but the victim followed her. Deputies were unable to locate the dog handler and the dog.
Battery
8300 block of Sands Point Blvd. – Sands Point
On March 19, the victim reported her husband battered her approximately a year ago. She said he recently told her he was going to call immigration and have her deported, so she decided to come in now to document the previous incident.
Burglary Business
4900 N State Road 7 – Dunkin’ Donuts
On March 21, an unknown male gained entry through the business by throwing a rock through the south side window. The subject then entered the business and took two registers with approximately $150 inside each. The subject was wearing a blue shirt, dark jeans with white and red Nike sandals, and a white shirt covering his face. The subject headed towards the rear of the business and left in a white-colored SUV.
Burglary Conveyance
7800 block of Sanibel Drive
On March 18, the front passenger side window was smashed on the victim’s beige Toyota. A backpack containing Apple Air Pods, the victim’s license and credit cards were stolen. The rear driver’s side window was smashed on a white Buick, and nothing was reported missing.
2700 block of NW 53rd Street – Tamarac Lakes North
On March 19, the victim advised that her unlocked vehicle was burglarized overnight while it was parked in the driveway of her home. Entry was made through the rear driver side door.
8291 North University Drive – Mobil
On March 19, a survey company truck had the front driver’s window smashed in, and a “Total Station” was stolen from the cargo area. A Total Station is the surveying instrument used to make all the measurements. Video surveillance was available but did not capture the break-in, due to being motion activated. Latent prints were obtained from the vehicle.
4900 block of NW 53rd Street – Mainlands
On March 21, deputies met with a female caller who advised two unknown male suspect(s) entered her vehicle via an unlocked door and stole her purse and a bag of groceries from inside her vehicle while she was bringing other bags of groceries into her home.
4400 block of NW 48th Terrace – Hidden Trails
On March 22, the victim reported his Ford Fusion was broken into overnight, and $200 was stolen from the center armrest compartment.
2300 block of NW 55th Street – Tamarac Lakes
On March 22, the victim reported his vehicle was left unlocked and rummaged through during the early morning hours. Approximately $7.50 in change was taken.
Criminal Mischief
4800 block of Holly Drive – The Woodlands
On March 17, a male caller advised that his service tech keyed his car after a verbal argument.
Robbery
4100 block of Lakeside Drive – Lakeside Apartments
On March 22, the victim was sitting on the steps of the apartment building as two males approached him. One subject, who was last seen wearing a black hoodie with unknown colored shorts and a thin build, asked him for his money. The victim stated he didn’t have any, and the subject proceeded to pistol-whip him on the left side of his face. The subjects then fled the area, possibly in a 2009 Acura or Scion.
Suspicious Incident
7200 block of NW 84th Street – Sunflower
On March 21, the complainant reported her parent’s Ring doorbell captured a male exiting a car, then kicking the front door of the house twice and running back to the car. It turned out the male did this to other neighbors as well, and it appeared to be a prank.
6900 block of NW 92nd Ave – Westwood
On March 21, the reporting person advised of a male suspect sitting and drinking inside a parked vehicle in the driveway of a vacant house. Per the residence’s owner, the subject had permission to stay in her driveway. The subject had an active warrant for his arrest.
Theft – all other
8245 North Pine Island Road – Publix
On March 19, an unknown male suspect entered the Publix and stole beer from the supermarket.
9700 block of West McNab Road
On March 20, the female victim reported the theft of a television that was delivered to her residence by Fed Ex on March 15.
7050 North University Drive – Aldi Supermarket
On March 21, the victim had her wallet removed from her purse by an unknown subject while shopping inside of Aldi.
Theft – Retail/ shoplifting
3914 West Commercial Blvd – Walgreen’s
On March 17, two males entered the Walgreens Pharmacy and stole approximately $2,077 of assorted perfumes from the display area. The two suspects left in a dark sedan.
4021 West Commercial Blvd – Old Time Pottery
On March 19, the reporting person advised an unknown person(s) took cleaning items from the store between March 10 and 19 before passing all points of sale and left the store.
8199 North University Drive – Walgreen’s
On March 20, four suspects entered the business (1 male and 3 females), taking diapers and several body washes, passing all points of sale and left in a vehicle. Video surveillance was obtained, and the tag of the Blue Toyota Corolla was taken down by the store manager.
