Armed Robber Steals Woman’s Rolex Outside of a Tamarac Pawnshop

By: Chris Brunner

An armed robber wearing a cap with the word “nope” on the front targeted a woman trying to sell an expensive watch at a Tamarac pawn shop after listening in on her conversation. Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit detectives are asking the public to help identify the robber caught on security video moments before the crime.

On the afternoon of December 10, Marette Dorelus was at Joey’s Pawn Shop at 4985 N. State Road 7 in Tamarac discussing the sale of a gold Rolex watch with the store clerk. During that discussion, a male entered the store trying to sell an iPhone. The man overheard the victim’s conversation and left the shop a few minutes before her and waited for her by her car.

Once the victim returned to her car she was accosted by the robber who was armed with a black handgun. The man demanded the victim’s Rolex. Once he had it, he fled the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male with a medium athletic frame. He wore a black T-shirt, blue jeans and a black baseball cap with the word “Nope” on the front. He was captured by the shop’s security video.

Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Detective Mark Copley at 954-321-4738 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or www.browardcrimestoppers.org. A reward of up to $3,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
