A bicyclist was hit by a car and seriously injured in Tamarac Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
A passerby alerted Tamarac Fire Rescue personnel shortly after 12 p.m. that a person had been hit by a car just south of Tamarac Fire Station 15 at 6000 Hiatus Rd., said Tamarac Fire Rescue Emergency Management Coordinator and spokesman Van Schoen.
Authorities rushed to the scene and found the injured bicyclist in the southbound lanes of Hiatus Road, Schoen said. The person was taken by helicopter to Broward Health North. Their condition was not available Thursday afternoon.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
Due to the incident, Hiatus Road was closed as of 1 p.m. between State Street and Fire Station 15.
