A 12-year-old boy was killed and a 10-year-old girl critically injured in a two-vehicle crash in North Lauderdale Sunday, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

The t-bone collision happened just after 10:30 a.m. when a 2015 Chrysler 200 collided with a 2003 GMC Sierra pickup truck at McNab Road and Avon Lane, deputies said. The Chrysler was heading west on McNab Road, attempting to make a left turn at a yellow light, as the Sierra headed east on McNab, according to BSO.

North Lauderdale Fire Rescue transported all five people in the vehicles to area hospitals.

A 12-year-old boy in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead, deputies said, while a 10-year-old girl remained in critical condition Monday.

Their names were not made public.

The names of the other passenger and one of the drivers was also withheld by BSO. Deputies identified the second driver as Julian Perez, 21, of Plantation.

Traffic homicide detectives are investigating the cause of the crash.
