A boy riding a scooter died of his injuries following a vehicle crash in North Lauderdale Thursday night, authorities said.
The crash between the scooter and a vehicle happened shortly before 5 p.m. near the 7900 block of West McNab Road, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
BSO deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue rushed to the scene and found the injured juvenile male. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The boy’s name and age were not immediately made public.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene, authorities said.
BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
As of 8:02 p.m., McNab Road between Avon Lane and 81st Avenue was shut down in both directions due to the crash. Drivers were asked to seek alternate routes.
