City Manager Michael Cernech signed an executive order for Tamarac’s entry into Phase 1 of reopening businesses, and on May 18, they’ll be set to join the rest of Broward County.
The order will include businesses like restaurants, retail, and personal services which may reopen with restrictions and capacity limitations in place.
The emergency order repeals the city’s prior emergency orders, which called for a shelter-in-place.
While the Broward County order calls for restaurants to limit their seating to 50 percent capacity indoors, Tamarac will allow for requests for temporary additional outdoor seating capacity, beyond the city’s current code limitations.
However, those wishing to be approved for the additional temporary seating must have the owners of the building or shopping center submit a written request form to the city via frank.zickar@tamarac.org.
Requests can also be made to the city for approval of temporary signage and banners for businesses.
The order also reaffirms the need for facial coverings, and is required all food service personnel, and strongly urged for all residents and visitors.
Public gatherings of ten or more people continue to not be allowed in public spaces that do not accommodate necessary social distancing.
Houses of worship, such as churches and temples, are not limited by this executive order. Still, they are urged to comply with the limitation on public gatherings and to utilize digital services instead.
While some community pools are choosing to reopen, this order states that all city-owned and operated pools will remain closed.
Parks are reopening to the public. And recreational sports, including racquet, are limited to two people at any one time, while basketball courts are limited only to individual use.
