One man is dead, and another was arrested following a carjacking in Boca Raton.
Early Friday morning, a vehicle was stolen during a carjacking in Boca Raton’s Mizner Park.
Deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office assisted the Boca Raton Police Department in tracking the dark-colored Cadillac where it traveled to Pompano Beach. When the vehicle came to a stop, the passenger Alex Exantus, 20, of North Lauderdale, jumped from the car.
Deputies found the driver Ariel Collazo, 23, of Tamarac, dead from a gunshot wound. A loaded firearm was found in the vehicle.
Exantus was later detained in a nearby apartment complex will face charges connected to another carjacking in North Lauderdale.
Both men were recently released from prison for carjacking and carjacking with a deadly weapon.
