In a year filled with darkness, the Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac is giving some light this Chanukkah.

Light Up Tamarac is a festive event held by the Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac. Created by Rabbi Kopel Silberberg and his wife Goldy in 2018,  it celebrates the Jewish holiday, Chanukah, also known as the Festival of Lights.

Safety was their most important concern, especially this year, so they made sure to incorporate social distancing and public health measures while finding ways for people in the community to celebrate Chanukah responsibly.

“The message of Chanukah is adding light, and this year, more than any other year in recent history, the message resonates—the world, as a whole, needs it,” Rabbi Silberberg said.

The festive Chanukah celebration will feature Mayor Michelle Gomez and the Tamarac Fire Department, a fire show, gelt drop, music, crafts, and donuts.

The event is free and open to the public, in a large outdoor field, and masks are required. Also, attendees must RSVP.

Held on  Sunday, December 13, at 5:00 p.m. located at the Tamarac Sports Complex 9901 NW 77 St.
