Tamarac Businesses Receive 75 COVID-19 Order Complaints

Several Tamarac businesses received complaints about not following precautions put in place by the Center for Disease Control in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.

As of August 14, the county has received 75 complaints ranging from disobeying orders to those not taking required measures that would allow proper social distancing.

In addition to the Tamarac complaints, Lauderhill businesses received 47 complaints, while North Lauderdale received 115.

The Tamarac complaints are broken down into three categories; Pending Inspection (3), Resolved Complaints (32), and Warning Issued (39). All businesses that receive a complaint have the right to a fair inspection. The database remains fluid and is continuously updated to reflect new information as its collected.

Since last week, two warnings have been issued to the same Wendy’s Tamarac location we reported at 7025 North University Drive. On August 18,  they received a warning after a complaint reported employees were observed not wearing their facial coverings properly.

On August 19, the same location received an additional warning. Similar to the warning given a day prior, the complaint indicated the drive-thru cashier’s facial covering was not covering her nose. In addition, the complaint stated cooks and prep area employees were seen wearing their masks below their chins. 

In Lauderhill, two businesses received warnings since August 14, including Lobster House Bar and Grill, at 7529 West Oakland Park Boulevard after cooks, and employees were observed not wearing masks and not practicing social distancing. 

The second business was Chevron 2599 North State Road 7, who received a warning after the cashier was reportedly wearing a mask below his chin the entire time the customer was shopping. Also, other employees were reported for not wearing their facial coverings properly. The complaint indicates many customers crowding around the cashier stand, even when not checking out. 

North Lauderdale has received 17 complaints since August 14. Of the complaints, 14 were resolved without a warning issued, with three yet to be investigated.
