Crime Update: Missing Persons and Gun Theft in Tamarac

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime and arrests through July 19, 2021.

Burglary Conveyance

NW 66th St.

On July 14, a 57-year-old female was the victim of Burglary Conveyance. An unknown suspect was seen breaking into the victim’s black Ford Escape. The victim was not on-premises. Unknown if any items were stolen.

NW 68th Ter.

On July 14, a 42-year-old male was the victim of Burglary Conveyance. An unknown suspect entered the victim’s locked vehicle while it was parked overnight in his driveway. The suspect removed sunglasses, a small tool for cutting seat belts, and $2. Tot. Est. Loss: $172.

Criminal Mischief

Commercial Blvd.

On July 15, a 30-year-old female was the victim of Criminal Mischief. Scrape/gouge marks were observed on the side of the victim’s vehicle, causing an estimated $600 in damage.  No definite suspect at this time. No witness and/or surveillance video.

S. Nob Hill Cir.

On July 16, a 41-year-old female was the victim of Criminal Mischief. The victim had a rock thrown through the window in front of her house.

Fraud

Commercial Blvd.

On July 11, a 37-year-old man was the victim of Fraud-Impersonation. An unknown subject fraudulently signed up for two lines of service under the victim’s AT&T account.

Tot. Est. Loss: $2,400.

Missing Person

Rock Island Rd.

On July 14, the reporting person told police her daughter was missing and had not been home since July 13.

NW 48th Ct.

On July 14, the reporting person said an out-of-town relative from New York had moved to Tamarac in February and went missing April 25. Only one family member heard from her, via text, on April 22. That was the last known contact with her.

Shooting

NW 65th St.

On July 17, a Shooting/Unlawful Discharge of a weapon was reported.

Theft

University Dr.

On July 15, a 79-year-old female was the victim of theft. A patient stated that an unknown person went into their purse while sleeping in the hospital and removed cash from a wallet inside a purse. The patient did not witness the money being taken. Tot. Est. Loss: $400.

Madison Ave.

On July 17, a 68-year-old male was the victim of theft. The victim was a customer who dropped off his vehicle for service.  Days later, after picking up the vehicle, he realized his handgun was missing from the center console. Tot. Est. Loss: $175.

Arrests

Rodgers, Stephanie Yvonne, 35, was arrested on charges of Obtain Controlled Substance By Fraud at Walgreens, 3914 W Commercial Blvd, on 07/14/2021.

Eli, Sammy, 55, was arrested on charges of Warrant: Vop – Burglary in the 7100 block of NW 66th St on 07/15/2021.

Valoz-Rivas, Scarlet, 33, was arrested on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/domestic Viol on NW 73rd Ter on 07/17/2021.

A 39-year-old male was arrested on charges of Firing a Weapon-discharge Firearm In Public on NW 65th St on 07/17/2021.
