East Side of Tamarac’s Drinking Water Undergoes Routine Chlorination October 16

If your water smells or tastes a little like chlorine, don’t be alarmed because it’s still safe to drink.

The City of Tamarac will temporarily return to free chlorination of the drinking water. This only includes the east side of Tamarac which provides drinking water to all areas east of State Road 7/US 441.

Chlorine is a highly efficient disinfectant added to public water supplies to kill disease-causing pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and protozoans that commonly grow in water supply reservoirs, on the walls of water mains, and in storage tanks. This routine maintenance procedure may result in a slight change in the taste or smell of tap water, but these short-term conditions won’t cause any adverse health effects.
