Failed Burglary Attempts and Other Crimes in Tamarac Through March 16

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through March 16.

Auto Theft



3116 West Commercial Blvd – Three Lakes Plaza

On March 10, the victim’s vehicle was stolen when she ran inside the beauty supply store and left the keys to her Honda Civic inside with the doors unlocked.

North Pine Island Road/Lagos De Campos Blvd

On March 15, the victim reported her vehicle was left on the side of the road with a dead battery. When the victim came back about an hour later, the vehicle was gone.

Battery

7900 block of NW 68 Ave

On March 11, the female subject got into an argument with the victim — her younger sister and proceeded to strike her in the face with a baby bottle, following up with subsequent scratches leaving lacerations on the victim’s face. The subject was placed into custody and taken to main jail.

5365 North State Road 7 – Top Celebrity Salon

On March 14, three subjects were involved in a verbal and physical altercation. One requested transport referencing a contusion to the head. There were no life-threatening injuries.

Burglary Conveyance

3873 West Commercial Blvd – Extended Stay America

On March 11, the victim reported an unknown suspect(s) removed a compactor ($1000) from the bed of his pick-up truck between overnight.

8800 block of Riverside Street – Riverside

On March 11, unknown suspects made entry into the victims’ vehicles while parked in their driveway. Three suspects were caught on video surveillance.

5300 block of Isles Circle – Catalina Isles

On March 12, the victim reported unknown suspects made entry into the victim’s vehicle while parked in her driveway. Three suspects were caught on video surveillance going to the vehicle overnight.

4600 block of NW 58 Court – Golf Villa Apartments

On March 13, the victim left her purse inside her unlocked vehicle as she ran back into her apartment to get something she forgot. When she came back out, her purse was gone.

4900 block of NW 25 Terrace – Tamarac Lakes South

On March 15, the vehicle’s front passenger side window was smashed out. No items were taken. The glove box and center console were left open. Latent prints were attempted with negative results, and no surveillance was available.

Burglary Business

4500 West Commercial Blvd – Robo Wash

On March 11, the business owner reported an unknown suspect(s) broke into five payment towers and stole currency for a loss of $1,577 overnight.

10001 West Commercial Blvd – Kasper Electrical Inc.

On March 16, the victim reported a storage trailer at a construction site was burglarized over the weekend. Several rolls of electrical wire and a generator were taken between March 13 and 16.

Burglary Residence

4500 block of Treehouse Lane – Treehouse

On March 12, an unknown suspect knocked at the victim’s front door, then went on the other side of the apartment, made forced entry into the patio, and attempted to open the sliding door to gain access into the house. The suspect, confronted by the resident, ran off of the premises.

8200 block of NW 68 Terrace – Sunflower

On March 15, during the morning hours, two males illegally entered the residence. Upon seeing the daughter in the residence, they turned around and fled.

Criminal Mischief

4400 block of Woodland Circle – Woodlands

On March 12, the victim discovered her black Honda had a shattered left rear window, which occurred sometime between March 6 and March 12.

7825 Southgate Blvd – Veteran’s Park

On March 12, a Tamarac city employee decided to call the police after finding graffiti spray-painted in the men’s bathroom of the dog park.

5700 block of NW 58 Ave – Woodland Meadows

On March 12, an unknown suspect(s) vandalized a white Lexus. Windows of the vehicle were vandalized with a rock. No entry was made into the vehicle.

8200 block of NW 67 Ave

On March 14, a report was generated about four tires being punctured overnight, causing $300 worth of damage. There was no surveillance at this time.

7000 block of NW 97 Ave – Westwood

On March 14, the female victim called in regards to ex-boyfriend vandalizing her car by slashing her front driver side tire.

Fraud

3101 West Commercial Blvd – Exxon gas station

On March 11, the victim reported an unknown person used his credit card and purchased $99.96 worth of fuel at the gas station.

4900 block of NW 48 Way – Pine Creek

On March 13, a 3-year-old Chihuahua was in the middle of the road in the neighborhood and was accidentally run over by a neighbor who was driving by.

Found Property



7500 block of North Pine Island Road

On March 11, the reporting person found a set of keys at a bus stop.

Robbery

4121 West Commercial Blvd. – Publix

On March 12, the manager reported an unknown male walked out of the store with a cart full of laundry detergent. As store employees attempted to stop the suspect, the suspect told them he had a gun at which time the attempt to stop the suspect ceased. The approximate loss was $228.55.

Theft – all other

4600 block of NW 59 Court – Golf Villa Apartments

On March 13, a theft report was made about someone stealing $9,000 in cash from the victim’s lockbox between February 18 and 19.

2400 West Commercial Blvd – AT&T

On March 15, the victim reported she was at her job (AT&T), where she placed her T-Mobile iPhone ($900) on a table. She stated she did not give anyone permission to take her phone from the counter.

Schools

2099 West Prospect Road – Excelsior Charter School

On March 11, the reporting person wanted to document that a parent made a threat to come to the school and confront a child and his parents because her child was being bullied while at school. (No threats of violence were stated.)
