The Florida Panthers have recognized Broward County Animal Care Assistant Director Alyssa Dazza as part of the team’s Celebration of Hispanic Excellence, honoring her public service and animal welfare work.
The program highlights South Florida leaders and organizations that contribute to public service, education, business and community leadership.
Originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, Dazza grew up in South Florida and graduated from Florida International University. As assistant director, she oversees shelter operations, field services and programs serving animals and pet owners throughout Broward County.
“Alyssa has been an effective partner in helping us drive Broward County Animal Care toward the excellence this community deserves,” said Animal Care Director Doug Brightwell. “Alyssa and our leadership team have worked together to deliver unprecedented life-saving results and success for our region.”
Dazza is pursuing a master’s degree in shelter medicine at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
“Our team has worked very hard over the past two years to produce a high-quality shelter experience for our residents and the animals in our care. We have made tremendous progress toward that goal,” Dazza said. “I am looking forward to building on that progress as we work with our community to elevate Broward County Animal Care into a world-class shelter.”
